Building a scalable organization for a Düsseldorf-based construction start-up
A Düsseldorf-based start-up, with the support of digital dna, developed modular, sustainable buildings to create affordable housing faster and in a CO2-neutral manner.

The challenge
The start-up had to quickly establish complex structures for rapid growth, module manufacturing, and a digital platform, but lacked the necessary internal resources. Coordinating numerous stakeholders, such as architects and investors, under intense time pressure presented a significant organizational challenge.
Our solution
digital dna structured the large-scale project into manageable work areas and defined clear deliverables and milestones to make the complexity manageable. The team assumed key operational roles such as program management, the interim COO position, and the project management office (PMO). By implementing a reporting structure and synchronizing timelines, risks were identified early on, and stakeholders were continuously informed about progress.
Building a scalable organizational structure
Through methodical project and program management, including operational interim roles and a systematic project reporting structure, we transformed an ambitious startup vision into a predictable and scalable organizational unit.
This transparent structure helped not only internal teams, but also external partners and investors to reliably track project progress and build trust.

The idea was brilliant and came at exactly the right time. With digital DNA, we were able to slice the elephant in the room, control the complexity, and finally get things moving.

We cut the elephant into slices. Many stakeholders wanted to stay informed – so first we defined deliverables, milestones, and dependencies, divided the project into streams, and developed a reporting structure.
